Music

Making music has long been one of my hobbies. Aside from playing classical pieces on the piano, I also like to experiment with digital audio creation and electronic music. On this page, you can currently find some of my favorite soundtracks I contributed to our team’s games during local 48h game jams. In the future, I plan to add other (non-soundtrack) pieces as well.

I started experimenting with Fruity Loops Studio (a digial audio workstation) and electronic music as a child around 2010 not long after I received my first own computer. Later, around 2013, I also started taking piano lessons. Since programming and computer science is now part of my job, making music has become my most important escape. To relax, I like to sit down at the piano and just improvise. I view making music as a very special kind of conversation between oneself and the instrument: every touch of a key, pluck of a string or even turining of a knob provokes an instant auditory feedback, inspiring new interaction. If you let it, this cycle leads to a level of concentration allowing you to forget everything around you for while, at least for me. It allows me to enter a state of flow very quickly. While this is a personal process, there is also a great joy in sharing the (results of that) conversation with others. You can find some of the things I produced in the past on this page and I will add more of my old and new tracks and piano scores in the future.

In recent years, I mostly made music for myself and continued on my path to master the piano, taking lessons again after a long break. However, I started to regularly contribute and publish some tracks at our local 48h game jam (the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Game Jam is organized twice a year). You can find some of my favorite ones below, including their story/intentions. At some point I stopped contributing code altogether and started focusing on the music, ambient soundscape, and procedural soundtracks for the games produced by the team(s) formed by my game jamming group “Hephaistos’ Forge”.
